Due to recent tragedies there will be no First Friday Vendors or Food Trucks, and will be refocusing First Friday Art Walk by supporting local Crossroads shops. We encourage everyone to join the Church of the Resurrection Downtown at 1601 Grand from 6 - 7:30 PM on Friday, September 6th for their First Friday Family Fun Night in celebration of Erin Langhofer's life and her work on behalf of Rose Brooks Center.
Join us for our First Friday Artwalk in the Bauer with extended hours, Moth & Candle tarot, and release of some new merch from 5-8pm! We open as usual at noon - so sneak in early before it gets wild!

We are having a low key First Friday, offering tarot readings from 5-8 and bundles for the new moon. Unfortunately we are closing early at 8pm! Follow us of instagram to keep up to date on World Taxidermy Championships!

-Join us for the release of Moth & Candle tarot deck. First Friday Moth & Candle will have Tarot supplies (deck bags, cleansing powder, spread books, cartomancy booklets) and the last remaining decks of the first edition of The Paris Tarot. Laura Pensar will be available for Tarot and cartomancy readings as well.

Cabinet of Curiosities - a Specimen Workshop with Mickey Alice Kwapis.
We are so excited to have Mickey, a Chicago-based Taxidermist, come to Oracle to teach this specimen preserving class! You will learn how to make your own wet specimen, press flowers, and learn about bones processing and identification through dissecting owl pellets. :: July 9 :: Insect Spreading Class 4pm-6pm - $90 - Our butterfly pinning and framing class will introduce you to the basics of spreading and preserving your own butterfly specimen! We provide two butterflies, a lovely wooden frame with glass for presentation, as well as all of the tools required - just bring yourself! Professional instruction and hands-on demonstrations for re-hydrating, posing and preserving your butterfly will be provided. You will also learn framing and display techniques for your butterfly during the first class installment.
*Because it takes a while to dry - students will need to come back to pick up their finished piece - and you leave the class with a specimen that you spread, posed and framed yourself!

with preserved insects, crystals, stones and other natural materials. Every piece of your custom Still Life has a specific meaning and you will learn the language behind each component! You get to take home your wonderful piece (ours usually retail around $120, so this is a BARGAIN people!) not to mention the bragging rights you earn after handling the oogie boogies. :: October 10 :: Butterflies 101 Workshop - This two part entomology spreading course is a basic introduction to spreading and framing butterflies. We provide everything you need - including two butterflies and a frame for display - you will learn how to rehydrate, spread, preserve, pose and frame your specimens.
*Because it takes some time for butterflies to dry, students will also need to come back on October 17th for the final stage of butterfly presentation - framing! Sign up early here, our classes fill up fast and we only have 8 seats!

:: August 29 :: To conclude our month long celebration, we will be having an actual hootenanny with henna hand painting and cocktails! It's gonna be fun, y'all - we are going to raise the dead, dance in the ashes of our enemies, feast on the bones of the damned, pledge our allegiance to Baphomet, spit actual Hellfire and maybe engage in a choreographed, cage-less knife fight!
(I kid. It's gonna just be henna painting with some light fortune telling and strong cocktails - still super fun though!!)
